How to monetize your YouTube channel faster?
YouTube is a potential platform for earning passive income, but simply creating a YouTube channel is not enough to start earning from it. YouTube has specific criteria for channel monetization, which include reaching 1000 subscribers and accumulating 4000 watch hours in the last 365 days. Additionally, your videos must comply with the monetization policies, and you should reside in a country where the YouTube Partner Program is available.
As a YouTuber, gaining necessary numbers of subscribers and watch hours required for monetization were really challenging for me, as I targeted a niche audience. It took me a considerable amount of time to accomplish that and finally monetize my channel, which happened 1 year and 2 months after actively uploading videos.
Throughout this journey, I learned valuable lessons on how to expedite the monetization process for a YouTube channel. In this article, I will share what I've learned about how to get a YouTube channel monetized faster.
1. Focus on a Niche That You're Truly Interested In
Choosing a niche that genuinely interests you is crucial because it ensures consistency in creating new content on a regular basis. Initially, I focused on motivational content, but then I started posting tutoring videos, which led to a lack of consistency. My views decreased, and my videos were not recommended to viewers, resulting in a gradual decline in statistics. Eventually, I realized the importance of focusing on one specific niche, such as motivational and self-help content, and made a successful comeback.
2. Maintain Consistency
Each time I posted a new video, it brought in new subscribers and increased watch hours. Therefore, I had to continuously come up with fresh ideas and content. When I stopped uploading videos for an extended period due to a busy schedule, my channel's statistics declined, making it challenging to regain audience's engagement.

3. Create High-Quality Content:
It's essential to create interesting and valuable content that resonates with your audience. People are unlikely to subscribe to your channel unless they find your content engaging and useful. To meet this demand, I explored new ideas such as vlogs and interactive videos to answer my subscribers' questions. This strategy resulted in a higher average view duration, as viewers spent more time watching my videos. Increased watch time translates to more watch hours for your channel.
4. Avoid Making Videos Too Short
You might assume that shorter videos will attract more viewers, but that's not necessarily the case. Ultimately, it's the content that matters. Some of my videos even had a duration of 15 minutes, and yet people watched them. On average, viewers maintained a view duration of more than 4 minutes. If your videos are too short, the average view duration will naturally be shorter as well. Longer videos with quality content can help you reach your watch hours target more effectively.
5. Engage with Your Viewers
Your viewers' support is crucial for the growth of your channel. While it may be impractical to reply to every comment, you should make an effort to respond to at least some comments based on priority. Show gratitude to your viewers, answer their questions, and listen to their suggestions. Engaging with your audience will foster a sense of community and contribute to the overall growth of your channel.
By implementing these tips and strategies, you can expedite the monetization process for your YouTube channel and start earning faster. All the best!
